Lisa Vasa Misipeka, American Samoa, throws. Lisa Misipeka won the bronze medal in the women's hammer throw at the 1999 (Seville) World Championships. As a college athlete, Misipeka competed for the University of South Carolina, where she won the 1998 NCAA championship in the women's hammer. Misipeka was already an Olympian at the time, having represented American Samoa in the women's shot put at the 1996 (Atlanta) Olympic Games. She was also at the Olympics in 2000 (Sydney) and 2004 (Athens) throwing the hammer. Misipeka was the flag-bearer for American Samoa in the opening ceremonies at the 2004 Games.
